National English Honor Society
The National English Honors Society (NEHS) seeks to promote and celebrate literacy at Mount Olive High School (MOHS) and throughout the Mount Olive school district. NEHS is part of a national chapter sponsored by Sigma Tau Delta (an international English honors society for college students). Each Spring, Mount Olive students are invited to apply to join the NEHS via a selective application process. Application requirements include attending MOHS for at least one year, completing at least two semesters of English (any level), maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.0, and demonstrating a clear disciplinary interest in the study of English Language Arts.
NEHS Mission Statement:
The National English Honor Society (NEHS) is a nationally recognized honor society, whose three pillars are duty, service, and honor. Students must be at least a sophomore in high school with an A-average in English classes (3.67 GPA) and at least a 3.0 GPA overall to become full members. Students must complete an application for induction, which is due by the last day of school in June. Students in the organization focus on spreading literacy through the school and local communities.
