Unified Sports
The Mount Olive High School's Special Olympics Champion School Unified Club brings youth with and without intellectual disabilities together through education and sports to create school communities of acceptance and respect. The club also provides opportunities to build student character, increase acceptance of disabilities, develop leadership and other skills in a service-learning environment, and enhances our school community. It is a program that teaches beyond the classroom and expands students' social horizons.
The Unified School Club will meet on a regular basis during lunch and may also meet outside of school hours.
Students will determine the special events and activities they wish to participate in throughout the school year. In addition to social and recreational activities, students will have the option to participate in Unified Sports, an inclusive sports opportunity (teams consisting of Special Olympic athletes and peer partners) that provides training and friendly competition. Our high school competes in soccer, basketball, and track and field. If you are interested in joining our MOHS Unified Club, please email Nancy Gilbert at nancy.gilbert@motsd.org to request our Google Classroom code.
